fil. Sem. Gen. c. 10. v. 21. i. e. sanans, vel laxans, natus A. M. 1659. a quo Chaldaei, ut quidam volunt; contra quos est Bochart. Geogr. Sacr. l. 2. c. 4. Arphaxad, inquit. Assyriae parti Arphaxitidi, quae Ptolemaeo Arrapachitis, videtur indidisse nomen. Nam quod Iosephus et alii volunt, Chaldaeos olim ab eo dictos Arphaxadaeos, merum somnium est. In Scriptura Chaldaei perpetuo vocantur Chasdim, a patre suo Chesed, vel Chased filio Nachor fratris Abrabae, Gen. c. 22. v. 22. Unde Hieronymus Traditionibus in Genesin, Chased quoque Qartus est, a quo Chasdim, i. e. Chaldaei postea vocati sunt.
